CICCA's 4th Annual Medium and Heavy-Duty Fleet Workshop Huge Success
The day began at 7:30 am with registration and a continental breakfast. Attendees were able to visit eight vendors, gathering information on biodiesel, fueling systems, diesel engines, compressed natural gas, diesel emission reduction programs, retrofit technologies and much more. From 8:30 am to 4:00 pm , attendees heard from local fuel distributors, producers, State of Indiana Environmental Management and Regional Environmental Protection Agency air quality experts. Local and national equipment providers were in attendance to provide updates on their products' benefits and how they can help fleet. Cummins Crosspoint sponsored the luncheon keynote speaker, Brian Mormino, a Cummins Washington D.C. Lobbyist, who provided an update on the Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) appropriations process. Two hundred million dollars is being requested for the DERA, as well as an additional $270.3 million for state and local air quality grants. These funds could be used for diesel retrofit projects like diesel oxidation catalysts, biodiesel buy down, idle reduction technologies, etc. In this request, they are also asking that the funds not be limited to non-attainment areas of the country, opening up the eligibility to any public or private sector diesel fleet. Brian asked that the attendees of the workshop support the request by signing onto the request. Attendees were very impressed with the workshop. Quotes from event evaluation forms:
At the end of the day, CICCA gained two new members and provided existing members with another beneficial and value-added event. Thanks to all the sponsors and speakers for making this event such a success!
